How are our Digital Photo II books being printed??
Thought everyone might be interested to know what some of the fuss has been (besides the upcoming student exhibition) in the studio the past two weeks... So, if you didn't already know, the Digital Photo II students have been putting the finishing touches on their soon to be self-published books. This mode of publishing is all the rage anymore, as the book market has changed drastically in the last 5 years. And although the stereotypical artist monograph has been dwindling in for maybe the last 10-15 years as a conventional option for mid-career to high profile artists, the self-publication methods have risen in prevalence as an super attractive and well-received option for portfolio presentation and promotion materials. It is also a much more responsible methodology for the publication industry in that it is a print on-demand model making it obviously ecologically more conscientious as well as less expensive to disseminate due to less labor & material overhead. Blurb.com is a frontrunner of this industry and happens to be the company that we have chosen for our semester projects. I light of this I thought you all might like to see a short clip on how these books get made since they are all probably being made as you read this...
...links the the actual books will follow shortly...
...this is probably my favorite part of every semester!!! stay tuned!!

It's so exciting! I have really enjoyed watching the process this semester with everyone starting with an idea and taking it all the way to the book. I am so proud of all my classmates.
