Spring 2017 – SCC Student Photography Books!

For anyone interested in getting a sense of what we do in ART2830 - Digital Photo II (and beyond ART2840, 2850, 2855) here are our most recent editions to the collection of books that we have been creating over the past 5-6 years. I am continually proud of the students that make it through this class particularly for their dedication, hardwork, and enthusiasm focusing on the creation of their books. The book projects are a strong testament to their commitment to the creative process and elongated exploration of an idea. It is an incredible honor to witness the semester long evolution of each body of work. The students spend nearly 2/3's of the entire semester working on a body of work that researches & investigates a topic of their choosing and then we work through the process of organizing and shaping our photographs, regarding that idea, into a book format. We then publish them through blurb.com and/or sometimes we hand-make our books depending on the student and the project. See below for information on the students' books present and past.

Where can you check 'em out??
The current semester's artists will be giving talks about their work and their creative process on May 5, 2017 from 10-12:50pm in SSB Auditorium at St. Charles Community College. The Photography Area will also be having a portfolio share. This event is free and open to all supportive audiences. Please join us! The more the merrier! Additionally we are looking for photography professionals  interested in participating on our advisory board and willing to give some more formal feedback and engage with the students.
